I am responding to the theme of how not knowing leads to more knowledge and interest. Antena mentions,"Without the snags, the surface becomes slick and we slide into so-called comprehension without pausing to question or remember how much we do not know" (pg 2). After reading this statement I was able to get a better understanding of what he was trying to say throughout the rest of the reading. Discomfortable writing causes us to think and question what we do not know instead of just reading regularly through books. We tend to remember more when we do not know something instead of trying to replace old information with new information. Discomfortable writing causes you to think twice and think differently.
My response is more so of a free write. Discomfortable writing again is one not worrying about mistakes and in a sense it allows you to just write down all your thoughts. I picked this process because when you free write you tend to think about things more into details and every little idea has to be jotted down. Based on the other readings like Temps Morts, I was able to visualize different stories in my head and this in a sense gave me the idea of how free writing leads you to think about different things at once. Your ideas are all over the place but somehow you put it all together. I choose to free write to allow whoever reads over my post to try to think about what is going on in my surroundings. I want them to have a vivid picture and it allows them to expand the way they think.I wanted readers to in a way feel what I am feeling and understand under what conditions i was writing. I also want them to reread when they get confused because by doing so they will remember it more and this in a way is similar to Discomfortable writing.
From these readings I was able to learn that we should not get adjusted to how we were taught things. We should break out of our comfort zones and view the things around us differently. In a sense, look for deeper meanings in things that may seem as common sense to us.
