Nashely Perez Week 1 Analysis

My response goes around the theme of repetition and in differences. Throughout the reading for some odd reason I kept thinking about how our generation is very different to that of our parents and grandparents. We all have faced similar situations such as break ups and heart breaks yet we all respond differently to them. The article states, "...sometimes the action changes and is perfected while the intention remains constant; sometimes the action remains the same in different contexts and with  different intentions" (page 5). What I am responding to is the fact that although actions may be repeated their will always be something different and new to that repetition.
What I used to formulate my response was just thinking about the time in which my father found it disrespectful for a girl to have a boyfriend yet still be allowed to talk and hang out with her guy friends. Again this goes back to how they viewed relationships back then and to how we are now. My response is based on a scene in a show called Power. Two of the actors are James and Angela who were high school lovers who split ways after graduating. James now has a family but with Angela in the picture he leaves his wife and goes with her. In this scene that I rewrote, which is based on how our generation would act, gives insight on how the generations we were born in affect our decisions compared to those of our parents or those born before them. The original scene shows Angela crying in her apartment and James crying outside her door after informing her that they can no longer be together. My "remix" of this scene is more so on how our generation would react to such scenario  although the background story is still the same.
The limitations to my process, which is generally my ideas on how these characters interact, would more so be that everyone comes from a different background and that itself impacts on how we react and make decisions in life. For example, someone coming from a rich background might misunderstand Angela reaction and call her dramatic or extra. Our environment plays a major role on our personality but one thing this process does allow is that it allows for viewers to understand others different than them a bit more. In other words it can be an eye opener for others.
The choices I made started with Angela just simply texting James asking when he is coming over. I wanted to make sure that the scene was something everyone can relate to in our generation. For example sending cute messages as such. Eventually, when given the news Angela's tone in the script changes to from a sweet young girl to that of a furious women. I also was a bit detailed on the description of what they are doing so that it gives readers a vivid picture of what is going on.
What I learned through this response is that there is always a deeper meaning to something even if it repeats. Nothing happens twice. It also helped me learn that everything that happens around us is unique in its own way. For example while reading I eventually thought about the fall and how every year i just love this season. We eventually view seasons as repetition without realizing that every year there is something different about that season.
