Ellen Lee Week 4 Analysis
The readings demonstrated how to free write. Reading the Manifesto of Discomfort Writing really helped me under the idea of writing freely, creatively, like how you express and produce art. The poems I read therefore after, perfectly and explicitly demonstrated these ideas, showing the author's free use of words and flow of language. So, I wrote my own poem based on the poems and the Manifesto of Discomfort Writing, I wrote it based on a perspective of a friend(?) has towards another girl, but wrote it in a way I feel almost uncomfortable, but conscious of my artistic decisions. I felt like being uncomfortable and comfortable was the most important "process" I used to formulate my response because, I finally stepped out of my own comfort zone of writing, but found myself in a different zone that felt weird, but also exhilarating. As I was free writing my poems, I felt like I could express my feelings a lot better through "discomfort writing," and felt more like a writer who had more space for creative expression. I believe there aren't that many limitations in this response, except maybe I could add symbols/pictures to add my poem. The lack of many limitations, again, as aforementioned before, allowed me as a free writer to have more creative space. The choices that I made are the dark tone of the overall piece of writing. I made a decision because I wanted to grab the perspective of a friend, and how she felt lost, upset, and especially envious of another "girl." I learned to be comfort with discomfort, and a new way to express my feelings, ideas, and thoughts. Writing in an essence, art, and should be treated and created like art.
