Joyce Van Drost Week 5 Analysis

My favorite color has been purple for a long time. It wasn’t my first favorite color; that was blue. But, I’m glad I changed it because purple is so pretty and it comes in so many pretty shades. I know it will always stay my favorite.

I chose to express purple in all these different perspectives by representing what purple use to stand for and then how other people perceive it. I did take some phrases off of some forums on the internet, but it was mostly to gauge more insight onto what people think of when they think of purple. One of the forum’s topics I read was "how would you describe purple to a blind person." And I thought that was so interesting to see how someone would think to describe a color.

I’m not usually a poetic type of girl, but for this response I attempted because I thought that it would sound better listing qualities or adjectives in a poetic type tone. I also chose portray these perspectives because I wanted to get across that every time I said “purple”, it could be another perspective of the color from a different person. No perspective was right or wrong, no perspective was more important than another; they were all equal and all interesting. This assignment actually made me understand deeper of why I may actually like the color purple. What draws the eye to it or just what vibe it gives off when the color is visible.
