Jenny Dyke week 6 Analysis

Although there was no reading this week, the assignment of weaving a "seemingly random" element into our work from week 5 was quite a daunting task.In formulating my response, I spent a lot of time trying to craft in my mind something that could pair well with the color purple, but then I decided to just write about the first thing that I thought of when I picked up a pencil and piece of paper. ( How much more random can you get?) This allowed for creativity and my mind's ability to wander into the unknown. It was limiting because it's tough to write about something off of the top of your head and give a good description. I didn't purposefully decide to have the same tone throughout the piece, but inevitably it ended up being that way. I carefully placed new stanzas between the stanzas of "purple" because I thought it had a good flow and wasn't like a new piece just thrown in at the end or pasted carelessly. In the end, I learned from this assignment that two very different "things" can go together and make for good writing, even if you don't believe so in the beginning. Seemingly random objects are not always random and can spark mental associations and memories of events, people, places, and other things which in turn create feeling and give creative writing subjective meaning.
